Dr. Alvin Yeo is a Consultant and currently working as a Periodontist and Implant Specialist, in the Restorative Department (Periodontics Unit) at the National Dental Centre, Singapore. He also assumes the positions of an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, NUS and a Research Fellow at the Department of Experimental Surgery, SGH
He graduated in Periodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA in 2003 with a Certificate in Periodontics and a Masters of Science (MS) degree in Oral Biology. He received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the National University of Singapore in 1997. He was conferred Fellow in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) in 2007.
Dr. Yeo has received various awards and scholarships. Recently, he was presented the Exxon-Mobil Research Fellowship Award in May 2007. And in 2006, he was awarded the SingHealth Clinician Scientist Scheme and the SingHealth Foundation Mentorship Programme Grant. In 2003, he received the ITI Fellowship to pursue a 1-year attachment in the Oral Surgery and Stomatology Department at the University of Bern, Swizerland as a Visiting Research Fellow. In addition, he received the Financial Year 1999 Human Management Development Program (FY99 HMDP) Fellowship to proceed with his Postgraduate training in Periodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Yeo’s major clinical and research interests include the evaluation of novel biomaterials and scaffolds for dentoalveolar ridge augmentation and dental implant related therapy. In addition, he has extensive clinical experience in the management of periodontal disease both surgically and non-surgically. Dr Yeo holds several positions in organizations and committees and is also involved in the teaching of the Postgraduate Periodontics Program. He lectures actively both locally and regionally on topics of related to Periodontology and Implant Dentistry.
